AngelsBed
A bed is a piece of household furniture which a person may rest or sleep, in many cultures and for for many centuries the bed was considered the most important piece of furniture in the entire house and somewhat of a status symbol. Early beds were used in ancient time as more than a place for sleeping. Many family beds were used as a place to eat meals and entertain socially.

The Bed The Mattress and their History.

History of Mattress Making tells us that a typical bed of the 17th Century in its simplest form was made of a wooden frame with rope or leather supports. The mattress was nothing more than a bag of soft filling which was most commonly straw or hay and sometimes wool type fabrics that were covered in plain cheap fabric. In the mid to late 1700's, the mattress cover itself became made of quality linens or cotton, the mattress box became shaped or contained and the fillings available were natural and plentiful, including assorted fibers, cotton, wool and horse hair, and just about anything thought to be soft enough to sleep on.

Beds and Mattresses Evolve.

By the early 19th century, there were several major advances in sleep with the appearance of the iron bed frame together with soft cotton stuffed mattresses. These new beds were less likely to become infested with various types of bugs that had annoyed bed users for centuries as they longed for comfortable sleep. Later in 1865, the inner spring mattress was patented. This has become the most popular model after which the majority of today's modern mattresses beds are based. Although the currently popular inner spring mattress and box spring were patented in 1865, it was not until the 1930's that they became dominant in the bedding industry. This is when the bedding technology really started advancing. The 1940's and 1950's saw futons and foam rubber appearing followed by the invention of the waterbed and the adjustable bed in the 1960's. The 1980's saw the introduction of the airbed. The 1990's were all about size, with the queen size bed actually taking over as the best selling size, beating the twin.

Quality Beds Improve Sleeping Experience.

The average adult needs around seven to eight hours of quality sleep on a comfortable piece of bedding furniture each sleep session. In order to qualify as quality sleep, you need to actually be deep asleep and not just lying in bed. There are a number of things that you can do to achieve this goal. The first step to assuring quality sleep is to go to bed at the same time every sleep session. Although this may prove difficult to do in our hectic world of work deadlines and personal or family demands, it will nonetheless go a long way towards a much more productive time in your hours of productivity. Try and get into the habit of winding down a couple of hours before bed-time and relax before you lay yourself down. This will help your brain and body begin to accept that it is preparing for rest and eventual sleep. If you don't, you will still be trying to re-live your day while trying to go to sleep. Keeping a constant routine such as reading or meditation can help, along with good personal hygene.
